The PCA Core Funds have been the cornerstone of the PCA Retirement Plan since 1982. These funds have been carefully selected to provide participants with the opportunity to create a portfolio that will meet their specific investment needs. PCA Retirement & Benefits regularly reviews the investment options offered within the PCA Core Fund menu for their suitability in the retirement plan. This rigorous review process has produced ten Core Funds that have sound and disciplined investment philosophies along with expense ratios that are less than the industry average. Participants who have the appropriate investment knowledge or the assistance of an investment professional may want to consider this option. Self-Directed Brokerage Account
The PCA Self Directed Brokerage Account is the third broad investment option available within the PCA Retirement Plan. RBI has partnered with Charles Schwab to provide plan participants with a brokerage account called a Personal Choice Retirement Account® (PCRA) that has access to over 7,000 mutual funds. Included in the mix are over 3,000 no load and no transaction fee funds. The PCA Self-Directed Brokerage Account rounds out the spectrum of PCA investments options by providing retirement plan investors with additional flexibility and a wide variety of mutual funds.
However, it is important to note that a PCRA is not ideal for all investors. This broad investment option requires a high level of investment expertise. Participants who choose this option are solely responsible for the overall management of their retirement portfolio. Unlike the PCA Core and PCA Target Funds, the RBI Investment Committee does not select or monitor fund performance for any mutual funds offered within a PCRA. This is solely the investor’s responsibility. Furthermore, PCRA participants are responsible for assessing relevant research, planning strategy, monitoring performance, and making adjustments. For those prepared to take on a greater role in managing their retirement portfolio, this option might be an additional tool for retirement planning. Participants interested in investing through the Schwab PCRA should download and read the PCA Self-Directed Brokerage Account brochure.
After you open a PCRA account, you gain access through www.schwab.com to Charles Schwab mutual fund research, advanced fund screening tools, and market commentary from industry professionals. Schwab PCRA Customer Service may be reached at 888-393-PCRA (7272) regarding the Schwab site and related content. RBI Client Service Associates are available at 800-789-8765 to walk you through the enrollment and transfer process.
